Activity records of Zundamon and friends!
...Hey, it's Tohoku Kiritan. Reading Week starts on October 27th. This year is the 80th one. As someone who's a bit of a shut-in, I'll be talking about four types of books I reread in the fall and how to use the library.
...Hi, I'm Tohoku Kiritan. October 1st is for changing wardrobes. I'll be writing honestly about the origins of this tradition dating back to the Heian period, my closet situation with its extreme lack of outdoor clothes, the seasonless loungewear I wear on gaming days, and how to store summer clothes.
When you think of autumn in Tohoku, you think of imoni parties, nanoda! We set up a giant pot by the river to compare Lady Zunko's Sendai-style (miso & pork) and Itako-neesan's Yamagata inland-style (soy sauce & beef). I'll explain all the differences in a handy chart, nanoda! 🍲
...This is Tohoku Itako. I woke before dawn and went to a field to search for the seven autumn herbs. Bush clover, pampas grass, kudzu, dianthus, golden lace, thoroughwort, and bellflower. I couldn't find them all. ...And I'll talk about why that's okay.
...Hi, this is Tohoku Kiritan. On my way home from school, I went with Zunko-neesama to Rifu, Miyagi to buy some pears. We're talking about the relay of varieties, how to pick the best ones, and where the sweetest part is. It's a story about the first sweet taste of autumn.
...Hi, this is Tohoku Kiritan. There are only a few days of summer vacation left, and my homework still isn't finished. My independent research topic is 'Observing Zundamon.' I'm going to be honest and write down my excuses and observation log. I'll get serious starting tomorrow.
...This is Tohoku Itako. On an Obon night, something a little mysterious happened when we lit the mukaebi welcome fire on the Zunda Union's veranda. This isn't a scary story. It's a tale for a night like this, for quietly remembering someone you hold dear.
July 7th is Tanabata, nanoda! I'm going to show you, one by one, the wishes all 10 members of Zunda Union wrote on their tanzaku strips. Everyone's personalities shine through so much, you can't help but laugh just reading them, nanoda!🎋
