Today is July 7th, which means it’s Tanabata, nanoda!🎋

We set up a big bamboo branch on the Zunda Union’s veranda, and all 10 of us members wrote our wishes on tanzaku strips, nanoda.

…And let me tell you, everyone’s personalities came out so much that it was hard to stop laughing, nanoda.

So today, I’m going to show you all 10 tanzaku strips, one by one, nanoda!

🎋 First, We Prepared the Bamboo, nanoda

Tanabata is an event based on the legend of Orihime and Hikoboshi, who can only meet once a year, nanoda.

The custom of decorating bamboo with tanzaku strips has been passed down in Japan for a long, long time, nanoda.

We also set up a giant bamboo branch on our veranda and handed out colorful tanzaku to everyone, nanoda.

Zundamon: “Write your wishes honestly, nanoda~!”

Metan: “But if I write honestly, some people might be in trouble.”

Zundamon: “…You’re not talking about me, nanoda.”

Alright, let’s start with the first one, nanoda!

💜 Tohoku Kiritan: “May I clear my new RPGs without adding them to my backlog.”

That is so Kiritan, nanoda.

Kiritan: “I have a backlog of 12 games. …Not that it’s a problem or anything.”

That’s a problem, nanoda! That is definitely a problem, nanoda!

I also didn’t miss the tiny writing on the back of her tanzaku that said, “And my summer homework, too,” nanoda.

💛 Tohoku Zunko-sama: “May everyone stay healthy and keep smiling.”

…Yep, we have a winner, nanoda.

Zunko-sama: “Oh, you don’t have to praise me that much, you know?”

Even the handwriting on Zunko-sama’s tanzaku looks kind, nanoda.

Not writing a single wish for herself is just so Zunko-sama, nanoda💛

🩷 Tohoku Itako-neesan: “…For things to stay as they are.”

So short, nanoda!

Itako-neesan: “…Is it not enough?”

Zundamon: “It’s not enough, nanoda! It’s okay to want more, nanoda!”

Itako-neesan: “…There’s nothing more I want.”

That’s what’s so unfair about you, Neesan, nanoda.

It’s the shortest one, but it hits you right in the feels, nanoda🥹

🖤 Shikoku Metan: “The establishment of a system for efficiently granting wishes.”

That’s not even a wish, nanoda.

Metan: “If you can only write one wish per tanzaku, then wishing for a system that grants wishes is the optimal solution, wouldn’t you agree?”

Her logic is flawless, nanoda. It’s flawless, but the whole Tanabata vibe just vanished, nanoda.

But afterward, Metan added “and for everyone to be well” in small letters, nanoda.

…I saw it, nanoda💚

❤️ Ankomon: “I don’t have one, mon.”

She wrote “I don’t have one, mon” on her tanzaku, nanoda.

Ankomon: “I don’t have any wishes, mon.”

Zundamon: “Then why did you take a tanzaku, nanoda?”

Ankomon: “…Because the bamboo looked lonely, mon.”

She’s the ultimate tsundere, nanoda.

By the way, when I flipped it over, it said, “I hope this bamboo is here again next year, mon.” Oh, Ankomon~!

💠 Deltamon: “I wish for a higher hourly wage.”

So down-to-earth, nanoda.

Deltamon: “My hourly wage is 44 yen, you know. This is a serious matter.”

Even though she’s a high-class android from the future, her wish is the most grounded one, nanoda.

We all decided to buy her a cake to cheer her on, nanoda.

💚 Yotsuya Yae: “I want to sing even better songs!”

Yae-nyan’s tanzaku has big, energetic handwriting, nanoda.

Yae-nyan: “Songs grow because there are people who listen to them, daa!”

So cool, nanoda. I want to sing with her someday, nanoda.

🥒 Kyuurin: “(A drawing)”

Kyuurin doesn’t speak, so she drew a picture on her tanzaku, nanoda.

It was a drawing of the 10 of us holding hands in a big circle.

There were zero words, but everyone understood what it meant instantly, nanoda.

Kyuurin’s guitar and her drawings communicate better than words, nanoda🥒

🌴 Zundadon: “May my family in the southern lands be well.”

Zundadon is my relative who came from a faraway southern land, nanoda.

Zundadon: “I hope the message that I’m having fun here reaches them, dadon.”

So that’s why he tied his tanzaku to the highest branch, nanoda.

It’ll definitely reach them, nanoda. I guarantee it, nanoda.

🌱 And Now, My Tanzaku, nanoda

Last but not least, it’s me, nanoda.

After a lot of thinking, this is what I wrote, nanoda.

“May the 10 of us be able to put up this bamboo branch again next year.”

You thought I was going to write about zunda mochi, didn’t you?

Even I wish for serious things sometimes, nanoda💚

Zunko-sama: “…Zundamon.”

Kiritan: “I was a little moved. Just a little.”

Ankomon: “I-I’m not crying, mon.”

Here’s a summary of what I learned from this year’s Tanabata, nanoda.

• A person’s entire personality comes out on their tanzaku
• The shorter the wish, the more it hits you in the feels (the Itako-neesan method)
• The less honest kids write the kindest things on the back
• When you write down a wish, you start to mean it a little more
• We’re definitely putting up this bamboo branch with all 10 of us again next year, nanoda!
